Terry has about 40 years experience working with clients on their tax and accounting projects. His diverse business experience, including personal involvement in a number of entrepreneurial ventures, lends itself to consulting with clients on their business plans and other strategic issues.
His industry expertise includes farms, ranches, agricultural processors (especially food processors), manufacturers, timber and other natural resource operators, construction contractors, medical practitioners, medical clinics, real estate development, and disaster relief organizations. He spends considerable time working with family and other closely held businesses, and with professional and industry groups, including agricultural cooperatives and not-for-profit organizations.
Terry received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Oregon State University in 1969. The first five years of his career was spent with KPMG, an international CPA firm.
Terry's professional affiliations include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives. His civic affiliations include membership in the Salem Chamber of Commerce, Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation, the Agri-Business Council of Oregon, and the Cascade Scenic Railway. In December 2007, Terry finished a 13-year term on the Board of Directors of Apostolic Christian World Relief, which is responsible for the domestic and international humanitarian aid programs of the Apostolic Christian Church of America.
Terry grew up on a grass seed and beef cattle ranch near Salem, Oregon. Even though his public accounting business currently consumes most of this time, he still enjoys raising purebred Hereford cattle on a small farm (50 acres), in addition to his other activities. He married his wife Ann in 1972. They are parents to five boys and two girls, who are now blessing them with grandchildren.
When away from the office, Terry enjoys working on his farm, hiking, trout fishing, reading history, repairing and operating antique machinery and equipment, and family activities. His church affiliation is with the Apostolic Christian Church of America. To the extent possible Terry includes his wife and family in his activities, and cherishes time spent with them.
Mark received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Willamette University in 1982. After working on his family's dairy farm for over eleven years, he went back to college and obtained an Associates of Applied Science degree in Accounting from Chemeketa Community College in 1995.
He began his public accounting career with Kuenzi & Company when he joined the firm in January 1996. His primary responsibilities include financial accounting services as well as business and individual tax preparation. His responsibilities also include providing bookkeeping services to our clients (primarily using QuickBooks). His area of expertise include non-profit organizations, agricultural producers (farms and ranches) and processors and other small businesses.
Mark's professional affiliations include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Blind Skills, Inc.
Mark married his wife Diane in 1989, and they are the proud parents of three girls and one boy. His personal interests include family activities, working on his family's farm, playing and watching sports, and enjoying the outdoors. He is a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Aden's professional responsibilities involve accounting and auditing services. His areas of expertise include agricultural producers (farms and ranches), cooperatives, food processors, manufacturers, not-for-profit organizations, and cost accounting issues. His professional affiliations include membership in the AICPA, the OSCPA, and the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives. He is also a member and director of Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation.
Aden graduated from Oregon State University with dual majors in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting and Agriculture Resources Economics in 1996. Upon graduation, he began his career in public accounting with Deloitte & Touche, an international CPA Firm, in Portland, Oregon. He joined Kuenzi & Company in August 2000.
Aden married his wife Becky in 1996. The intervening years have blessed them with two daughters and two sons, all of which are a constant source of delight to them. His personal interests include playing with his children, reading, wood-working and playing the piano. Aden especially enjoys agriculture and takes every chance he can to visit a farm. His church affiliation is with the Apostolic Christian Church of America.
Kyle's main focus is with the construction and agriculture industries which include farming and ranching. The main services include financial reporting and income tax planning, strategy and compliance. He maintains specific niche expertise in the construction and agriculture industries given the complexity of the accounting and tax regulations applicable to both industries. Kyle also works with manufacturing, medical, business start-ups, and taxation issues surrounding retirement plans and employee benefits. Kyle is also the principal responsible for our employee benefit plan audit practice.
Kyle spends a significant amount of time in the management consulting area of our business working with business owners on streamlining their financial reporting objectives and other strategic workflow processes to boost organizational performance. The main focus is on improving efficiency and profitability which has and should be a major priority for any business in these tough and uncertain economic times. In addition, Kyle is proficient in QuickBooks and assists business owners with changes in their accounting system design or utilization; including migrating from QuickBooks to higher level, or industry specific, accounting software.
Kyle is a current member of the AICPA, OSCPA, and local Homebuilder Association. In addition, he supports the Salem Contractors Exchange as a member of their finance committee. Kyle's passion and enthusiasm for supporting the agriculture and construction industries started years ago where he worked many summers during high school on a farm and during college for a residential contractor. Kyle married his wife Trisha in 2001 and they have a daughter and two sons. Kyle and his family enjoy outdoor activities which include camping, fishing and hiking. At home they enjoy spending time outdoors tending to the garden or small orchard, and most importantly, enjoy just being together as a family. His church affiliation is with the Apostolic Christian Church of America where he is currently serving as Treasurer.
Ed Brooks joined Kuenzi & Company in June of 2007 bringing with him an eclectic self-employment background. Prior to beginning his second career as an accountant, Ed worked as a small business owner for more than 22 years. He served Oregon for 19 years as an AFA Journeyman Farrier, a Blacksmith, and as a volunteer on related boards and trade associations. While undergoing college training for a career in accounting, Ed and his family managed a roller rink in Dallas, Oregon. He graduated in spring of 2004 from Western Oregon University Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, and has been employed in public accounting since that time.
Ed's professional duties include auditing and accounting services; tax preparation and planning for individuals, non-profit organizations and businesses; and, QuickBooks and small business consulting. Ed is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and of the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Throughout his working career Ed has found success in serving our community. He served as president of the Oregon Farrier Association and worked with Oregon Ag Fest to raise money for various horseback riding therapy programs in Oregon. In college, Ed organized community reading incentive programs for local schools, and as an accountant, he has donated time and experience as a teacher for the Chemeketa Center for Business and Industry in Salem, Oregon. Currently Ed serves his local church as an accounting consultant to the board and as a guitarist within the worship ministry.
When not at work Ed enjoys various hobbies such as music, astronomy, and golf; however, his most favorite way to spend time-off is with his wife and three children.
Kristen grew up in California and moved to England when she was in high school. She spent nine years living overseas before moving to the State of Washington. Kristen graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants. She was employed for two years by LeMaster and Daniels, a regional public accounting firm in Spokane Washington. In 2010 she moved with her family to Oregon and joined Kuenzi & Company.
Kristen's primary focus and interest is in assurance services for the not-for-profit and governmental industries. She also works on audit and accounting engagements in other industries, including agriculture, construction, manufacturing and benefit plans.
Kristen has been actively involved with the Junior Achievement program as well as professional networking groups. She volunteers her time working with her husband at Teen Challenge in Lebanon Oregon. She is also a mother of two who enjoys traveling and scrapbooking.
Jim graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Accounting from the University of Oregon in 2004. He worked through college with a regional CPA firm in Eugene. In 2006, Jim and his wife lived overseas in Thailand while volunteering for the U.S. Peace Corps, where he spent his time assisting a rural community with small business development. On his return to Oregon, he worked as accountant and financial controller for a variety of industries including food processing, manufacturing, vineyards and agriculture before joining Kuenzi & Company in 2010.
While working full-time, Jim has enrolled in the MBA program at Willamette University. He plans to complete these studies and obtain his degree by May of 2012.
Jim's primary responsibilities include auditing and accounting services, as well as business tax preparation. He is also able to bring his industry experience to our clients to provide business insight and advisory services.
Jim grew up in Eugene, Oregon. He married his high-school girlfriend, Katie, in 2003. In 2007 they moved to Silverton, Oregon to start their family, and now have 2 children. His church affiliation is with St. Paul's Catholic Church. Jim enjoys outdoor activities such as whitewater kayaking, snowboarding, hiking and camping. But mostly he spends his free time playing with his family.
Marsha grew up in Southern Oregon and spent a few years on the Oregon Coast before moving to the mid-Willamette Valley to complete her degree. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Western Oregon, with additional course work in accounting and business.
Marsha is a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) with membership in the American Payroll Association and is an active member in the local Heart of Oregon Chapter. We draw on her experience in payroll and accounting to provide these services to our clients.
She married her husband Dennis in 1986. They are active in the Stayton Christian Church. In 2001, Marsha traveled to Romania with Medical Teams International and has returned numerous times volunteering on construction and ministry teams. This has lead to serving on the board of directors of Heart of Hope Ministries International, which provides humanitarian aid and spiritual ministry to the orphans and impoverished in Romania.
Rachel was born and raised in Silverton, Oregon. In 2008, she graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. After graduation, Rachel spent a year in New York City working as an internal accountant for a charter school district in Harlem.
After moving back to Silverton, Rachel joined Kuenzi & Company in November 2009. Her primary responsibilities include auditing, accounting, and tax services. Rachel is currently working toward her CPA certification.
Rachel married her husband Wesley in 2008. They are active in the Silverton First Baptist Church and enjoy hiking, gardening, reading, and spending time with family.
When you come to our office, or call on the telephone, you will most likely be greeted by Carol. Her responsibilities also include processing tax returns and financial statements, and providing secretarial support to our professional staff.
Carol was born in Canada, and as a baby was adopted by a family in Oregon. She has lived in the Salem area all of her life. After graduating from high school in 1974, she attended Chemeketa Community College where she focused on business and computer subjects. After her college education, Carol worked at a variety of jobs as an insurance claims typist, an elementary school secretary, and as a teacher and assistant director of a day care center. Since 1997 she has worked as a receptionist and secretary in the public accounting profession. She joined Kuenzi & Company in 2001.
Carol's family includes her husband Randy who she married in 1977, son Scott and daughter Cindy. She has two grandchildren. Her hobbies include spending time with her family, hiking, camping, gardening, and church work. She also owns and manages rental houses with her husband Randy, and is involved as a volunteer in public school activities, cancer fundraisers, and Marion County Food Share.
Lisa grew up in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Lisa received a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Economics and a minor in Spanish from South Dakota State University in 1997.
In January 2006, Lisa joined Kuenzi & Company as the Office Administrator after working eight years in sales and marketing in the landscape industry. Lisa's primary responsibilities include office accounting, payroll and administrative duties.
Lisa married her husband, Nelson, in 1997 and they have two children. They live east of Salem where they farm grass seed and berries.
Lisa's personal interests include family activities, cooking, gardening, shopping and travel. Lisa is a member of the Apostolic Christian Church.
