Jon graduated high school from a small town in Illinois and enlisted in the US Army.  After a year, he transferred to the US Marine Corps where he served honorably.  He began preparing payroll during his time in the Marine Corps.  Upon being discharged, he worked as a retail manager for almost 10 years before breaking his back in an automobile accident.  He then went back to school at Cal State in San Marcos, CA and earned his degree in Accounting while working as a cost accounting specialist for an international publicly traded company.  Upon graduating, he joined Moss Adams in San Diego where he worked in the assurance department.  In 2008 he moved to Oregon and soon after joined Jerry Steffen’s CPA firm in Silverton.  After a year, he purchased the company from Jerry and has owned it since 2010.  They prepared all types of tax returns, prepared clients’ payroll and bookkeeping, performed tax planning for all types of clients and began his work with estates and trusts.

In July 2023, Jon began his transition from being self-employed to working at Kuenzi & Company as a Director.  Here, he will continue his work in estates and trusts as well as tax planning and preparation.

Jon is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, Oregon Society of CPA’s and the Willamette Valley Estate Planning Council and is licensed as a CPA in California and Oregon.

Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, hiking, spending time with his 4 grandsons and he is an instructor of Taekwon Do in Silverton.
